Symptoms
This disease is caused by complex of fungi and characterized by yellowing of leaves, stunted growth and gradually drying of shoots and branches.
The disease also distinguished by the leaves of the affected tree loose turgidity, become yellowish, dry up become brittle and may remain hanging on the twigs (Plate 1 and 2). The reduction in latex formation in tree resulted in slowly drying of tree.
In advance stage of the disease infection, vascular discoloration and dark brown stripe can be seen in the cross section of affected branches.
After few days/months, roots start decaying in affected tree, become black in color and finally entire or partially drying of tree cause economic loss to the farmers (Plate 3 and 4).
These symptoms are mainly observed during monsoon and post-monsoon season particularly between September and November months.
Excess irrigation, water stagnation during monsoon and poor drainage system are the reasons for the infection of this disease.
