Nature of Damage
Sapota fruit mite is red in colour (Fig. 1) and feeds on the fruit surface from marble size fruit stage (Fig. 2).
Both nymph and adults stages scrap the fruit surface and suck cell sap.
The infested fruit surface becomes corky rough or black or dark colour with encrustation on fruits (Fig. 3 & 4), which decline marketable quality of the harvested produce and lessen the market price.
