Nature of Damage

  • Sapota fruit mite is red in colour (Fig. 1) and feeds on the fruit surface from marble size fruit stage (Fig. 2). 
  • Both nymph and adults stages scrap the fruit surface and suck cell sap. 
  • The infested fruit surface becomes corky rough or black or dark colour with encrustation on fruits (Fig. 3 & 4), which decline marketable quality of the harvested produce and lessen the market price.
