Nature of Damage
They acts as transporting carrier agent of different soft bodied insect like mealybug, scale insect, aphids, etc. (Fig 1 & 5).
The ant causes webbing of leaves and stitch together a few leaves usually at the top of branches and build their nests using the silk produced by their larvae (Fig 2 & 3).
The outer webbed leaves dries, while remain green inside as they are not detached from the tree (Fig 4).
They also form soil nest on tree branches near fruits (Fig. 6).
