Nature of Damage

  • They acts as transporting carrier agent of different soft bodied insect like mealybug, scale insect, aphids, etc. (Fig 1 & 5). 
  • The ant causes webbing of leaves and stitch together a few leaves usually at the top of branches and build their nests using the silk produced by their larvae (Fig 2 & 3). 
  • The outer webbed leaves dries, while remain green inside as they are not detached from the tree (Fig 4).
  • They also form soil nest on tree branches near fruits (Fig. 6).
