Symptoms

  • This disease is caused by complex of fungi and characterized by yellowing of leaves, stunted growth and gradually drying of shoots and branches. 
  • The disease also distinguished by the leaves of the affected tree loose turgidity, become yellowish, dry up become brittle and may remain hanging on the twigs (Plate 1 and 2). The reduction in latex formation in tree resulted in slowly drying of tree.
  • In advance stage of the disease infection, vascular discoloration and dark brown stripe can be seen in the cross section of affected branches.
  • After few days/months, roots start decaying in affected tree, become black in color and finally entire or partially drying of tree cause economic loss to the farmers (Plate 3 and 4). 
  • These symptoms are mainly observed during monsoon and post-monsoon season particularly between September and November months. 
  • Excess irrigation, water stagnation during monsoon and poor drainage system are the reasons for the infection of this disease.
