Symptoms
It is also a fungus oriented disease, which develops on the honey dew like excretion of scale insects and mealy bugs. The fungus is non pathogenic. But due to attack of insect secretion of honey dew, affected portion become black (Plate 1 and 2).
It adversely affects the photosynthetic function of the leaves, twigs and disfigures the fruit, thereby affecting the quality of the fruit. Under severe infestation, reduce plant growth.
It produces mass of spore which, sticks on to the host surface. This fungus attack on bark superficially.
The disease symptoms appear due to high humidity and crowed trees/branches condition in orchard during monsoon season.
