Management

• Cleanliness in sapota orchards and especially in border area.
• Pruning of infested branches and crop residues and burn / destroy them to kill the mealybug colonies.
• Removal of weeds/alternate host plants like Hibiscus, Parthenium, etc. in orchard and in nearby crop fields to prevent the spread of pest.
• Prevention of the ants movements and destruction of existing ants colonies.
• Sanitization of farm equipment before moving it to the uninfested crop.
• Application of sticky bands or alkathene sheet on main stem to prevent movement of crawlers between trees.
• Conservation and augmentation of natural enemies like Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, lady bird beetles, lace wings, hover flies, etc.
