In north India, vines are pruned in winter (December—January). In Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and north Karnataka, vines are pruned twice (April and October). The April pruning is generally termed as back pruning or foundation pruning, while October-November pruning is called fruit pruning or forward pruning.
