Micro-propagation is the practice of rapidly multiplying stock plant material to produce a large number of progeny plants, using modern plant tissue culture methods.

Micro propagation

Tissue Culture Techniques for Micro propagation:
1. Shoot tip culture
2. Node culture
3. Somatic embryogenesis
4. Organogenesis

Advantages of Micro propagation:

1. Large number of plants can be produced in a small space and time.
2. Only small amount of tissue is needed.
3. It helps in bulking up of rapidly new cultivars.
4. International exchange of material possible.
5. Year round multiplication of plant is possible.
6. Production of disease free plant.
