The period of first 60 days is very critical in the life cycle of pigeon pea. Two hand weeding, first at 25-30 days and second at 45-50 days after sowing and two to three interculturing should be carried out as when required.

In south Gujarat region, Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg/ha as pre-emergence and interculturing at 60 days effectively controls weeds.

In South Saurashtra region, three hand weeding and interculturing should be carried out. Pendimethalin or Fluchloralin @ 0.9 kg/ha as pre-emergence application and weeding and interculturing at 40-45 days effectively controls weeds.
