CULTURAL PRACTICES:

• Proper weed management is urgently needed to check yield loss.
• At least two weeding are required till the crop canopy covers the soil surface.
• Application of herbicides reduces the number of weeding to zero in summer and one during rainy season.
• Apply fluchloralin (Basalin 48 EC) @ 1.5 Kg ai/ha as pre-sowng soil incorporation and pendimethalin (Stomp 30EC) @ 0.75 kg ai/ha as post-sowing and pre emergence soil surface spray.
• Surface apphcatioáol^Éibicides is effective for 4-5 weeks.
• Okra generally does not require staking, training and pruning.
• Spraying the standing crop with 100-500 ppm ethrel reduce vegetative growth and weaken apical dominance.
• For ratoonfc&p from quick branching varieties, prune the spring-summer crop 20-25 cm above the ground |£fter summer fiurt% with the onset of rains followed by manuring the crop and plant protection cover.
