SOIL AND CLIMATE:

1. Average temperature range of 210C-270 is most suitable.
2. Extreme temperature (below 100 C and above 300C) adversely affects the reproductive growth.
3. Warm and humid climate favours luxurious growth, while poor growth is exhibited in cool climate.
4. It grows on all types of soil ranging from light sand to heavy clay however, well-drained, fertile, silt or clay – loam soils are ideal.
5. Light soils are good for early crop, while clay-loam soils are well-suited for high yield.
6. It can to tolerate slightly acidic soil, the ideal pH range of the soil is 5.5 to 6.6.
7. Brinjal should follow a leguminous crop to enrich soil fertility.
