YIELD AND STORAGE MANAGEMENT:

a. Harvesting

a. The fruits are harvested when they are tender and attractive in appearance the fruits are addible from the time they are quarter grown until they are ripe. Harvesting should be done every third day by cutting the stalk from the stem.

b. Grading
------------------
a. according to I.S.I. three grades 1. Super 2. Fancy 3. Commercial.

c. Packing
------------------
a. In gunny bags or in bamboo baskets or in plastic crates.

d. Storage
-------------------

a. Fruits can be stored for 7 to 10 days at 10 to 13o F. with 80 to 90 %RH. In Ordinary conditions fruit can be stored for 2 to 3 days in winter.

e. Yield
--------------------

f. Yield of brinjal varies according to the region, cultivar and duration of the crop.

g. Early crop : 20-30t/ha

h. Long duration crop : 35-40 t/ha

a. Hybrids : 40-80 t/ha.
