The mango varieties can be broadly groups as polyembryonic and monoembryonic. All most all the commercial varieties in the world belong to Monoembryonic group and do not come true to type while polyembryonic varieties can be propagated by seed (Sexual) propagation. There fore it is necessary to raised by asexual method.
The methods of grafting like inarching/softwood grafting, side grafting, veneer grafting, top working from which inarching is the commercial generally adopted all over India.
Inarching: It is one of the most widely practised methods of grafting. One can get a big-sized plant material for planting with over 95% success rate.
Veneer and side grafting: These can be utilized for preparing a grafted plant material or for in-situ grafting, i.e. for the rootstocks which are already planted.
Epicotyl/stone grafting: This method is widely practised in the Konkan region of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The germinated seedlings of 8–15 days old are used for grafting.
Selection of grafts from Nursery:

At the time of selection of graft following points should be considered.
1. Stock-Scion should be of uniform in size or thickness
2. Continuous graft joint about 8 to 10 cms long.
3. Visible lining of brown calus
4. Graft should not recently separated from mother plant
5. Graft should be purchase from reputed and Government Nursery
6. Labeled graft should be purchase
